WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF TAPENTADOL ON GASTROINTESTINAL FUNCTION IN HUMANS?
When taken at equianalgesic doses, tapentadol has minimal gastrointestinal side effects in contrast to refined strong opioids. Prior research on tapentadol has encompassed multi-morbid patients in whom confounders prohibit the comprehensive examination of the mechanistic impacts and strict comparison with other opioids or placebo. This article strived at exploring the effects of tapentadol on gastrointestinal motility and gastrointestinal side impacts. It has long been acknowledged that narcotics influence gastrointestinal motility. These impacts, recognized as opioid bowel (or gastrointestinal) dysfunction manifest as constipation, sickness, bloating, ileus, and sometimes pain. Tapentadol resulted in considerably less colonic dysmotility and gastrointestinal side consequences as referred with oxycodone in equianalgesic portions. Tapentadol considerably postponed gastric emptying t1/2 and small bowel transit, identical to oxycodone. These data indicate that critical adminis...
